ABOUT ME
I have been practicing and studying yoga and meditation since 1999. Yoga is an invaluable part of my life and really contributes to my physical, emotional and mental health as well as keeping me Northern Soul dancing and performing my comedy burlesque characters throughout the land!
I thoroughly enjoy teaching yoga and I’m keen on encouraging others to practice with a sense of humour and fun, making friends with their minds and bodies no matter what age or condition we’re in!
I am a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma trained teacher who has been running classes since 2007.
The British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) is the largest yoga membership organisation in the UK and the Sport England recognised governing body for yoga.
DO I HAVE TO BRING ANY EQUIPMENT?
For COVID-19 safety, please bring your own mat and blanket. A couple of yoga blocks and a strap/necktie might come in handy.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR A LEOTARD?
If you are comfortable and warm and other classmates are not distracted. Warm comfy layers are recommended - this is the North after all.
I'M NOT FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO DO YOGA!
That's like saying I'm too dirty to have a bath! The minimum requirement for practicing yoga is the ability to both breathe in and also out. Repeat. That's it :)
SHOULD I HAVE MY TEA BEFORE COMING?
It's probably not a good idea to eat a whole pie and come straight to class so eat a couple of hours before class or just have a light snack if you're flagging.
I HATED PE AT SCHOOL!
Don't worry, yoga is not PE or the Olympics. No one is marking or judging you. I want to keep you safe and happy and encourage you to be kind to your body and enjoy your practice so that you come back and bring your best friend!
DO I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT BEHIND MY HEAD?!
Nope.
